Nice : A pole of excellence in the area of tourism

For the National Deputy and new Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi, who is also President of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes département, tourism has become one of the municipality’s main priorities. He would like to make the city “a pole of excellence in the area of tourism”.

The responsibility for this incisive innovative policy for tourism goes to Rudy Salles, deputy mayor in charge of tourism and international relations, vice-president of the Bureau, the CANCA conurbation and the National Assembly.

The major development orientations have been defined for the months and years to come: the Acropolis Convention Centre will be renovated soon by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. There is a project in the city centre to build a prestige venue on the sea for greeting convention goers; it will be a showcase of Nice as a convention venue. Furthermore, an international exhibition centre covering 50 to 60,000 m² is planned near the Airport (in the Lower Var valley) with a capacity of 40,000 participants.

There is a clear will to place Nice in the lead for tourism and make it a pole of competence.
