T
he most popular image of Nice the world over. The Promenade, which gracefully follows the majestic curve of the Baie des Anges was originally only a pathway 2 metres wide. Built in 1860 by the English Reverend Lewis Way, it was officially "opened" in 1931.

The art-deco style facade has been officially classified pending the restructuration of the property. In former times, it was Nice's Venitian Palace, housing a theatre, gaming rooms, concert hall in a surprising mixture of luxury, money and culture.


5 MUSÉE MASSÉNA

The building dates from 1898 and was built in a neo-classical style. As well as the museum, there is also a library and reception rooms.

6 HOTEL NEGRESCO
In its style reminscent of the Belle Epoque, the Negresco was built by Edouard Niermans in 1912 for the Romanian Henri Negresco. This property, whose renown extends worldwide is the only palace-museum in Nice. Its style reflects a certain art of living rich in French, tradition, hospitality and service. It is classified as a historical monument

To the west of the city, the most recent municipal park is entirely dedicated to nature and includes the largest glass-house in the world. An ornamental lake of 6000 sqm is at the centre of twenty theme gardens.

11 MUSEUM OF ASIAN ART

Conceived by the Japanese architect Kenzo Tangé , in the heart of the Parc Phoenix , this museum presents an original architecture in glass and steel, based on the basic geometrical shapes of the square and the circle, Asian symbols of earth and sky respectively. The concept of the museum is arranged around Chinese, Japanese, Cambodian and Indian civilisations as well as the route of Buddhism.
