Carnival press conferences
A first press conference was organised in Paris on 7th December with Mr Rudy Salles, Tourism and International Business deputy and Mr Denis Zanon, Director General of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, followed on 16th and 17th December by two further press conferences in Rome and in Milan. Seventy French and Italian journalists (general and tourist press) attended a presentation of what's new at the 2010 carnival, King of the Blue Planet, attracted by the event's modern, performance-style ethos and its commitment to eco-citizenship. Press commissions are already being allocated for Carnival 2010 and for Carnival 2011.

Nice hosts "Rendez-Vous in France 2010"
To refresh your memory, the international professional trade fair for French tourism "Rendez-Vous in France" will take place in Nice on 30th and 31st March 2010. Nice, France's second most popular tourist destination with over 4 million visitors per year, is fully equipped to welcome the 900 French and foreign tour operators who will be coming to network with 600 exhibitors from the French tourist sector over two days. Let's not forget that "Rendez-vous in France" is the largest professional event organised by Atout France. (+)

Nice Francophone Capital in 2013
Nice will host the 7th Francophone Games in 2013. This event will bring together young people from the 70 countries that make up the Francophone world across the five continents. The Francophone Games subtly combines sport and art. It takes place every four years in the year that follows the Olympic Games and is organised alternately in a country from the Northern and the Southern hemisphere. Three thousand athletes and artists will have their chance in Nice and could follow in the steps of Marie-Josée Perec, David Douillet, Césaria Evora or Ismaël Lo...

The Radisson turns "Blu"!
Since last 15th October the largest 4* hotel in Nice, the Radisson SAS is carrying a new brand name: the Radisson Blu Nice Hotel.
The name change symbolises the end of the partnership between the airline company SAS and the hotel group Rezidor, to become part of the international Carlson group, a key player in the tourism, travel agency and dining sector. (+)

A second hotel in Nice is awarded 5 stars
Following in the footsteps of the Negresco, it is the Palais de la Méditerranée hotel's turn to obtain the 5 star classification.
This category was created in France in 2009 to align French hotels better with international classification. Foreign clientele used to 5 star hotels across the world were sometimes disconcerted by the French 4 stars, even thought the service and quality provided is largely competitive with their overseas counterparts. This benchmark redefines the criteria of comfort, level of service expected, accessibility, sustainable development and access to new technologies. (+)

Emirates launch new daily flights between Nice and Dubai
Following its very successful year in 2009 the international airline company based in Dubai has, since 1st January 2010, introduced a daily service between Nice and Dubai. This connection with Dubai links Nice to the 20th international airport (37.4 million passengers in 2008 from 210 destinations). The Nice Dubai route saw 141% growth in 2009 in comparison with 2008. By increasing the frequency of its flights to Nice the company is offering the Côte d'Azur the opportunity to increase its development potential in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Australia and New Zealand.
