Barely more than one hour from Nice, by car or train (Train des Pignes), or a few minutes by helicopter, the Alpes d’Azur offer no less than 16 ski resorts and 500 kilometres of ski runs. |

And that’s not all... You want to get your fill of thrills? Then, get on a snowmobile in Auron or, from Isola 2000, drop from a helicopter on to immaculate slopes. You want to enjoy nature: slip on cross-country skis or snowshoes to trek through the forest, as if you were in the great North. Are snowflakes necessary, if the feeling is there? |

The Alpes d’Azur can be enjoyed in all seasons, even in the heart of the summer. Like Icarus, try paragliding from Gréolières or Gourdon. Like Indiana Jones, hanging from a wire over the void, attempt to scale one of the Via Ferrata, former haunts of the French mountain infantrymen, the chasseurs alpins, or a Nepalese or Andean suspension bridge, one of the thirty attractions in the “Forêt d’aventures” (adventure forest) in La Colmiane. For hikers: follow the trails of the last wolves in the French Alps in the Mercantour Park, keep your eyes peeled for chamois, mouflon or a golden eagle.
